IGNOU Online LLM in IPR & Tech Law

What’s new at IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University)?

LLM can be pursued as a 1-year LLM program or as a regular 2-year program. Both programs are offered by the universities in India. INGOU does not offer LLM full courses but offers PG diplomas and certificates like Diploma in Paralegal Practice (DIPP), Graduate Certificate in Cyber Law (PGCCL), Post-Graduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Rights (PGDIPR), Certificate in Human Rights (CHR), Post-Graduate Certificate in Patent Practice (PGCPP), Post-Graduate Diploma in Criminal Justice (PGDCJ), and more. In 1985, IGNOU was established, and since then, they have been offering their services to the students by offering them Online Learning programs (OL) and Open & Distance Learning programs (ODL). IGNOU was awarded an “A++ grade university” by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). IGNOU has been approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the University Grants Commission (UGC). However, the university doesn’t get approval from the Bar Council of India to offer LLM courses but offers diploma law programs.

• Eligibility criteria for the diploma and certificate courses offered by IGNOU:
  • Students must have to complete their bachelor’s degree in any law domain.
  • They must have the degree certificate to be eligible to apply for IGNOU
• Eligibility criteria (General) for LLM programs offered by various institutions:
  • Student must have completed their bachelor’s degree in Law either a 3-year program or a 5-year program from any recognized university.
  • Students must have scored at least 50% marks in their bachelor’s program
  • Must have qualified for the entrance exam conducted at the university level/ state level/ national level like CLAT or LSAT.

Note: The above said tuition fee is not for the LLM program offered by IGNOU but for the PG Diploma in Environmental and Management Law. IGNOU does not offer any LLM program to students but offers PG Diplomas and Certificate programs.

IGNOU Online offers the option of credit card/debit card/net banking in its fee payment options but does not provide you a “No Cost EMI” option as of now for any of the online courses.

The examination pattern followed at IGNOU online for different types of courses is semester mode, i.e., exams are conducted by the university at an interval of 6 months. For online courses, exams are conducted through an AI-proctored tool for an unbiased performance evaluation of students.
